Fixie Chick & Power Factor Correction Devices
The Fixie Chick had a power factor correction device installed in her home. We watched the electric usage each billing cycle. We found that the unit made about a 10% savings on the first month and surprisingly a 23% savings on the 2nd month.
We do understand that the weather can make a difference so we also noted the degree days on each month. For the past 3 months the degree days have been running about 23 degrees to 29 degrees Farenheit. So, our last reading was an actual huge savings. The item cost was $365.00 dollars installed. We figure based on the cost of the power factor correction device that it will pay for itself, in other words provide a return on investment of 10 months.
The Fixie Chick does endorse this product for several reasons. The first being that it saves electricity by using less in the home which means it helps provide for green living. The second reason is that it saves money. The use of electricity has gone down by 20% or so therefore the cost of electricity has also gone down that amount. And third, it qualifies for the Energy Saving Tax Credit. And fourth, the units are 100% made in the USA.
If you are interested in purchasing one of the power factor correction devices you must email Patrick@pmcecosupply.com
Have a great day.

Since becoming a distributor for our power factor correction devices, we have had great success in selling the units locally in the NY area.
We are currently expanding our sales to cover the upstate region of New York. We are focusing on our commercial sales across the upstate region due to the fact that our commercial customers see greater savings in their electric bills which saves on the consumption of electricity making upstate NY a greener place.
To explain this, a small home may use $50.00 of electricity. If the homeowner saves 20% of that it equates to a $10.00 savings. Now, a commercial application of a power factor correction device where a customer’s monthly electric bill is $5000.00 and that customer sees a 20% savings on that amount is $1000.00. That savings is staggering. We have actual proof of these types of savings and our customers are ecstatic!
I could not be more excited about providing the power factor devices to all our customers and having them experience a savings which they never new was available. To explain my background, I am always obsessing about taxes and utility bills because they do not change. In fact, the cost keep rising. I was so thrilled at the power factor correction device that I want to provide it to everyone.
These devices fit perfectly with our theme here at Healthy Homes of Rochester whereby they save money, save energy and help us live green.

Well, now that we here in the north east – upstate NY are in the thick of winter we have a big chore of keeping our sidewalks and driveways clear. Our home is on a hill therefore the driveway is sloped quite a bit. Yes we do have a plow contract in the winter for snow removal but that is not enough to keep the driveway clear. For several years I have had to use rock salt on my sidewalk and driveway. Each winter I end up spreading about 400 pounds of rock salt with at fertilizer spreader. We try to do more things to save the earth and live a little more green each year. With that in mind, I have been concerned about applying all the rock salt each year as it cannot be good to the land.
I am not sure how harmful it is outside of killing some of the grass near the driveway, however, I have found another solution that I am using now. It is called Ice Melt. I have been using this in my sidewalk and driveway for the month of December because it is more healthy for the grass and shrubs near the driveway. By my use, I can say that it is helpful in melting the ice. I do like it because it is cleaner than the rock salt. I have found the Ice Melt to be an acceptable replacement the rock salt. Below is an example of the product I am using Feel free to purchase some for your winter wonderland.
Happy Winter

Well it is now officially winter. The temperature is nice and cold outside. This is the time of year when I go around the house and look for pesky drafts that need to be sealed. I have done this and found that the bottom of the doors in my home are the worst offenders for drafts. This is not good for my heating bills because I have 3 doors that provide access to the outside. However, I have found a very affordable and simple solution to block the drafts this winter! I am very excited because it was so easy to do that I am amazed.
The perfect solution for the drafts under the doors in my home the purchase of the Twin Draft Guard.
All you do to install is slide the Twin Draft Guard under the door and that is it! How nice is that?

Your home most likely has water pipes that carry hot water from the hot water heater to the kitchen sink, and bathrooms of your home. An easy way to save energy and money is to use foam pipe insulation to insulate the hot water lines (or pipes) in your home. To do this, go to your hot water heater and follow the pipe that carries hot water to the house. Take the foam pipe insulation and cut it to fit in the lengths that you need to cover your pipes. This is very simple to do and cost effective. Taking these steps to install foam pipe insulation in your home will help to keep the water hot in the lines by insulating the pipes.
Below is a recommended choice of pipe insulation. Or you can visit our store at:

Well the Christmas holiday is over and it is on to the hustle and bustle of going back to the mall or stores to return gifts which do not fit or are unwanted for whatever reason.
My green living tip for this week is an obvious one and very simple. It may just come as a reminder to most but hopefully it will serve as a useful tip.
Don’t drive out to one store, then go home and go out again. Just simply plan a route and get your chores done all at once by mapping the most efficient route to take in order to save fuel. This will help you save money too. Its just that simple.
Happy Holidays,

It is the holiday season and what better way to go green but to hang LED light bulbs instead of the incandescent light bulbs. Below is an example of a great product to have for the holiday decorating. The LED light bulbs save energy and money. They do not draw nearly the electricity that the old bulbs do therefore saving plenty on your electric costs. Light the holidays up at a fraction of the cost this year!
